💙 You're Invited: The very first meeting of North East Scleroderma Support 💙
📅 Date: Thursday, 30th October 2025
🕑 Time: 2:00 PM
📍 Location: Carthouse Café, Sherburn Hill, Durham, DH6 1PA
This is the new Café that is part of the fabulous Vintage Sofa Warehouse.
It would be really beneficial for us to have an idea of numbers, so please let us know if you'd like to come.
Come and join us for the very first gathering of North East Scleroderma Support. Whether you're newly diagnosed, living with Scleroderma, or supporting a loved one—this group is for you.
Enjoy tea, coffee, and cake in the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the Carthouse Café as we begin building a community of understanding, encouragement, and shared experience.
💬 What to Expect
Who is this group for?
Anyone affected by Scleroderma—patients, family members, friends, or carers. If you're looking for connection and support, you're welcome.
Who’s offering the support?
This group is being set up by a fellow warrior and his long-suffering wife. Our hope is that we support each other—sharing tips, stories, and strategies for living well.
Topics might include:
* Managing fatigue
* Gloves and warmers that work for us
* Coping strategies that help day-to-day
We’re also supported by the brilliant SRUK charity, who offer online support if you can’t attend in person.
Is this medically trained support?
No. This is a peer-led group, but we hope to grow—with guest speakers and healthcare professionals joining us in future meetings.
How much does it cost?
The group is free. We hope you’ll enjoy a drink and a slice of cake while you're here. If cost is a concern, SRUK can cover refreshments—but if you’re able to pay for your own, that’s appreciated.
♿ Accessibility & Parking
Mobility Access: The café is accessible, though there are some gentle gradients outside. There’s a spacious toilet suitable for standard wheelchairs and a small mobility ramp inside.
Parking: Plenty of parking is available directly in front of the café, with an additional lot across the road.
🌟 Why Come Along?
Because no one should face Scleroderma alone. Whether you want to talk, listen, learn, or simply be among people who understand—you’ll be met with kindness and a cuppa.
We’d love to see you there.
