The first process in Weld Extended’s work this autumn is with Canadian choreographer Liz Kinoshita, who is based in Stockholm and is now working with dancers Amina Avdic, Nelia Naumanen, Lander Casier, Shai Faran, Daniel Staaf and Zoë Poluch.

WELD EXTENDED
In the Weld Extended project, dancers with different backgrounds, skills and experiences are invited to work together with Swedish and international choreographers in curious and exploratory processes. The invitation to the choreographer consists of sharing their practice, returning to older material or exploring new material. For the dancers, it provides an opportunity to experience new methods and aesthetics, to be enriched and challenged, and to meet colleagues they may never have worked with before.
We want to provide opportunities for both newly graduated choreographers and dancers and established Swedish and international artists. Sometimes, Weld Extended can also be linked to existing projects or concepts that need a cohesive group structure, which is what we did in the 2024 process with Jeanine Durning. Weld wants to open up opportunities for more Swedish and international dancers and choreographers to work together.

LIZ KINOSHITA (CA/SE)
is a choreographer, performer, dance pedagogue and organiser. She has worked with ZOO/Thomas Hauert, Tino Sehgal, among others, and created her own work with collaborators such as Clinton Stringer, Justin F. Kennedy and Salka Ardal Rosengren. Her practices focus on musicality in dance, working with live performances shared (inter)nationally. Her creations include VOLCANO (2014), Radical Empathy (2017), You Can’t Take It With You (2017), 11 O’clock (2021), Saga Saga (2024). Liz was Artistic Associate with Rosas for West Side Story (2020) on Broadway (NYC). She created Midnight Oil (2024) for and with Norrdans, with original composition by Twin Shadow AKA George Lewis Jr. Liz has organised as an advocate for dance communities through groups such as State of The Arts, voices for dance, and Danscentrum Stockholm. She presently organises höjden nights presenting multidisciplinary artists within a convivial context at höjden studios in Stockholm.
