Benjamin Finney
What started with the idea of mixing Post-Rock with Folk music, is where Benjamin Finney’s sound lives—taking inspiration from artists: Nick Drake, Sufjan Stevens, and Sigur Rós, Benjamin writes Folk instrumentals that “Achieve technical, Virtuosity while retaining melodic integrity”. Benjamin’s interest in music began at fifteen when he was immersed in folk nights and surrounded by a broad variety of instruments. Over time, this influence has woven its way into Benjamin’s style—emotively crafted folk soundscapes surrounded by textured acoustic instruments.
After fifteen years in Manchester, Benjamin relocated to rural Scotland, releasing Home to mark the occasion. His latest Album. The Storm was written over the first months surrounded by Scottish landscapes. The twelve tracks featured explore the themes of change, nature, and belonging, with the addition of Benjamin’s take on a couple of traditional folk pieces.
