Please note, the audition process for this production is in two parts. First, a workshop held on Saturday 14 February: "Comedy in Theatre: Commedia dell'Arte" led by Dr Corinna Di Niro. A formal (group) audition will follow on 28 February.
Workshop details:
Date: Saturday 14 February 2026
Time: 12.00-3.00pm
Location: Blackwood Memorial Hall
The workshop will feed directly into the development and casting of the November production, Low Pay Don’t Pay by Dario Fo, directed by Larry Waller, an experienced theatre director known for ensemble-led, physically driven productions and a strong focus on actor process and collaboration. The workshop functions as both a skills-based learning experience and an early development and exploration space for actors considering involvement in the upcoming production. It offers insight into the ensemble approach, performance style, and creative expectations that will inform rehearsals later in the year.
Audition details:
Date: Saturday 28 February
Time: 1pm-3.30pm.

Saturday November 21, 2:00 and 7:30
Sunday November 22, 2:00

We encourage interested actors to participate in both events (workshop and audition) however we understand that life is busy and other commitments can get in the way. As such, if you can only attend one, we'd still love you to get in touch. If you really can't make either date work but are passionate about getting involved, please still get in touch for a 1:1 conversation.
Low Pay Don’t Pay is a bold, joyful, and sharply political ensemble comedy that places actors, audience, and action in constant relationship. This immersive production celebrates the play’s greatest strengths: its relentless physicality, rapid-fire farce, and deeply human heart. Performed in the round, the auditence becomes part of the pressure cooker. There is nowhere to hide.
Our vision is to create a piece of theatre that is fierce, funny and alive. If you are committed to having fun, working hard and holding a mirror up to present day Australia and exploring / improvising / workshopping theatre, this is a production for you!
This is a Blackwood Players theatre production. Rehearsals will start in July (Tuesday and Friday evenings & Sunday afternoons TBC) ahead of performances in November.
