Pathfoot Building, Stirling, United Kingdom
Join us for a relaxed, hands-on drawing workshop, rooted in nature and inspired by the Art & Science Exhibition. Guided by the work of Alison Watt, Stuart Howart, Rachel Duckhouse, Katie Patterson, and Christine Bollard, we’ll explore how to really see the world around us.
Over the session, you’ll move from observing overall shape and form to looking closely at line, texture, and pattern. Using skulls, microscopes, eyeglasses, and foraged plants, you’ll experiment with a variety of materials and create a curated pocket sketchbook of your discoveries.
This is a process-focused, enjoyable session designed to encourage slowing down, learning how to look, and engaging with nature in new ways. No experience is needed, and all materials are provided.
About the Artist
Jodie Fowler is a Scottish designer and educator, lives with her family in Port of Menteith, near the Trossachs. Her rural surroundings have deepened her appreciation for nature, the seasons, and community—values that shape her work and teaching. With a degree in Visual Communication from Glasgow School of Art, Jodie spent a decade as a commercial designer, specializing in graphic design, color, and print, followed by 10 years in Art & Design education.
Jodie is the founder of Create Club, where she blends these experiences with her love of nature, offering workshops that encourage mindful creativity, experimentation, and sustainable making in a relaxed, supportive space.
Through a series of exhibitions, events and workshops, the University Art Collection aims to make art and culture a part of daily life for students, staff and visitors. All are welcome to the Pathfoot Building to explore our collection of Scottish contemporary art and to participate in our events. Each year our work focussed on a theme, relating to the research of the Univeristy. This year our theme is Art & Science where we are exploring the shared communitites of practice between artists and scienftific researchers.
