ALAS programs for the 2025-26 season will continue to be hybrid, with the in-person presentation held at the Lincoln Center (1519 Water St., Stevens Point, Wisconsin) and remotely live via Zoom.
Garbage and recycling are integral parts of all our lives, but what really happens after the bin? Where do your recyclables go? Which items should go in the curbside bin and which ones should be dropped off at a recycler? Understanding your trash and recycling trail will help you be a better recycler. Presenter Susan Schuller is the Executive Director for Recycling Connections and will be “talking trash” this month. The presentation titled, “Talking Trash: Knowing How to Recycle Right in Today’s Ever-Changing World," will help shine some light on today’s recycling process to help us all become better recyclers.
With Recycling Connections, Susan provides professional development services and consultations in zero waste, recycling, organics diversion, and waste reduction. She is an avid backyard composter and gardener with over 20 years of experience planting native gardens. Susan holds a MS in Natural Resources, BS in Biology/Chemistry, and has two decades of teaching environmental education and sustainability topics. She has served on several boards and committees to advance environmental issues related to green schools, bird conservation, and environmental education. She holds a subpermit for bird banding leading a study in Bukolt Park on songbirds with her daughter, Joy. As a mother of two young teens, she is a passionate soccer mom who loves spending time in the outdoors on many adventures with her family. Susan is dedicated to connecting communities to their resources to help build a more sustainable and healthier world.
So, let’s get together and talk trash on Wednesday, September 17th at 7pm. To join over Zoom, RSVP @ tinyurl.com/ALAS2025Sept
