Behind Closed Doors at the Polski Hotel and Its Neighbors

Step back in time and uncover the hidden stories of Stevens Point’s past. On October 28 at 6:30 p.m., the Portage County Historical Society presents Behind Closed Doors at the Polski Hotel and Its Neighbors—an evening exploring the fascinating and often scandalous history of the Polski Hotel and the what took place in the houses of ill repute in downtown Stevens Point at the turn of the 20th century.

The talk coincides with the release of Great Northern Distilling’s newest creation: Polski Hotel Jeżynówka, a Polish-style blackberry brandy inspired by the very site where the distillery now stands. Once home to the infamous Polski Hotel, operated by Charles Kobella, this location’s colorful past provides the perfect backdrop for the launch of this locally crafted spirit.

Guests will have the opportunity to purchase bottles of Polski Hotel Jeżynówka for $18 each, with $1 from every bottle sold donated to the Portage County Historical Society in support of local history preservation.

There is a $5 suggested donation at the door to support the Historical Society’s mission of sharing Portage County’s stories.
