The Portage County Public Library will host antiques expert Mark F. Moran to provide free appraisals of your items from 4:30-7:30pm on Monday, December 1 at the Stevens Point Branch.
How it works: Each appraisal takes about 3-4 minutes, and participants are required to register for a time slot sometime between 4:30-7:30pm, with a limit of one item per person and no large groups, please. Registration is now open and people can sign up by calling the Stevens Point Branch reference desk at 715-346-1548. Spectators are welcome to watch anytime during this 3-hour event!
Acceptable items for appraisal: Americana, fine art, furniture, ceramics, glassware, vintage photos, advertising, folk art, assorted toys, metalware, clocks, costume jewelry, musical instruments, lighting, books, and sports memorabilia.
Excluded items that will not be appraised: All weapons, including swords and knives; traps (like leg-holds); Nazi memorabilia; coins and paper money; fine jewelry, including precious gems; Beanie Babies; and antique bottles that contain alcohol.
Please note Moran’s opinions of value are informal, and may not be used for insurance or charitable donations, which require a certified appraisal.
