This summer, we're excited to enhance our in between seasons event program by shifting from three evening meetings to a series of planned activities centered around various photographic themes and experiences.
Current members and prospective new members are welcome to join these events, providing a fantastic opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals. It's an excellent informal way for new members to get acquainted with the Dunchurch Photographic Society, share experiences from the events, and pick up photography tips.
Bring your camera, drone, or phone as appropriate, and join us at the designated time and venue to kick off the activities.
A day at Lyndon Nature Reserve offers a delightful mix of nature, wildlife, and tranquility. Here's what you can expect:
Wildlife Watching
Lyndon Nature Reserve is renowned for its Rutland Ospreys. From March to September, you can observe these magnificent birds nesting and fishing in Manton Bay. The reserve has several hides where you can get a closer look at the ospreys and other bird species.
Scenic Walks
Enjoy a leisurely walk along the south shore of Rutland Water. The trails take you through wildflower meadows and offer stunning views of the reservoir. Look out for common spotted orchids in late spring and early summer.
Visitor Centre
The Lyndon Visitor Centre is a great starting point for your visit. Here, you can learn about the Rutland Osprey Project, watch live footage from the osprey webcam, and browse local products and gifts. The centre also has floor-to-ceiling windows providing excellent views across the water.
Facilities
The reserve is well-equipped with amenities including toilets, a shop, picnic areas, and accessible paths. Consider bringing a packed lunch. Mobility buggies are available for hire, making it accessible for all visitors.
