Join us in downtown St. Thomas on Tuesday, September 30 as we honour Orange Shirt Day/National Day for Truth and Reconciliation with an afternoon of learning, reflection, and community connection.
This is a FREE community event for all ages.
Location:
Talbot Street & Mondamin Street, and St. Thomas Public Library
Schedule:
12 p.m. - Flag raising and proclamation in front of City Hall
Speeches, traditional dancing, and drumming performances to follow.
1:15 p.m. - Procession to the St. Thomas Public Library
1:30 p.m. - Lunch (while supplies last), vendor booths, educational displays, and a live hip-hop performance at the library
2:30 p.m. - Film screening in Carnegie Room
4 p.m. - Event concludes
Featuring:
🪘 Traditional drumming and dancing by Indigenous performers
🌮 Yummy Indigenous foods prepared by Mary-Anne Kechego (while supplies last - first ~300 attendees served!)
📿 Indigenous artisans and vendors (Cash only please; proceeds will support the Orange Shirt Society)
