The state has ordered the removal of the Central Ave & 25th St. N Pride crosswalk and the 9th Ave S. Black History Matters street murals, with a deadline set for September 4th. These vibrant symbols have stood as powerful reminders of our community’s commitment to inclusion, diversity, and the celebration of all cultures.
In Orlando, the Pulse memorial crosswalk—a sacred space honoring the lives lost and forever changed—was removed overnight without notice. St. Pete is built on being a city where inclusion, art, diversity, and culture are not just values, but the very foundation of our identity. These murals are more than paint on pavement; they are expressions of who we are and what we stand for. You can take over our streets, but our story will not, and cannot, be erased. The spirit of St. Pete lives in its people, its artists, and its advocates. We will continue to celebrate our history, honor our heroes, and uplift every voice in our community. Join us on Aug. 31st as we STAND TOGETHER!
