Coming to the Tuesday, September 16, St. Louis MCA Meeting
BRAINSTORMING ABOUT AUDIO (& "Fixing It in Post" . . . or Not)
If You're A Filmmaker, Musician, Podcaster, Publisher, Editor, Voice Actor, Or Writer, You'll Want To Know About the Good, The Bad, And The Ugly In Audio, Including The Latest Technologies And AI.
Bad audio has hampered many good projects. A film with bad audio will leave audiences scratching their heads. Filmmakers will find it tough getting distribution or even acceptance in film festivals. Yet, clear audio, good music and sound effects can enhance the storytelling tremendously.
Audio issues frequently happen on set, and rather than address them during production, producers often fall back on that famous phrase, "we'll fix it in post...." Of course, that can get expensive and may not even fix the problem.
This Tuesday, September 16, we'll be meeting at Shock City, the largest recording studio in St. Louis, offering a full range of audio services, where Audio Engineer, Jonathan Shaver will spearhead the discussion (bio below).
We invite you to bring your problems, horror stories, success stories, audio ambitions, and other questions about audio to this meeting. If you have expertise (and/or cool new audio toys),
we welcome you to come and share that with others. Some topics we'll be covering:
-- Tips to follow in pre-production and production to ensure the best quality audio and keep the costs low.
-- Potential impacts of AI on audio, including music, voiceovers, and sound effects.
-- Getting previously-recorded music for your projects.
-- Hiring a composer for your music -- it may not be as expensive as you expect.
-- Sources of sound effects for your project.
-- If you're an actor, what are the opportunities and challenges of voiceover work today? How do you
get started, and what do you need to succeed?
-- Where are the best opportunities in audio today?
