About the event

"Rodenticide in the Food Web" talk with VINS Director of Wildlife Ambassadors Program
Are there "safe" chemical rodenticides? How do mouse and rat poisons interact with wildlife in the ecosystem? Join Anna Morris from Vermont Institute of Natural Science to learn about the ripple effects of rodenticides in the food web and the sustainable alternatives to controlling rodent populations in and around our homes. Dance to the diverse musical excursions of local NEK favorite Tritium Well and enjoy free cider and donuts at 5pm with the talk at 6pm.

Bio:

Anna’s passion for birds of prey was first kindled at The Raptor Trust’s wildlife rehabilitation facility in Millington, NJ, where she volunteered and worked starting in 2009. After training with Cornell’s Raptor Program through college, she completed a graduate degree in Raptor Biology at Boise State University, studying the social behavior of Striated Caracaras in the Falkland Islands. Today, she oversees the team of raptor education ambassadors at VINS, prioritizing welfare, choice, and natural history in their care and training. In 2018 she became a Certified Professional Bird Trainer through the International Animal Trainers Certification Board, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the International Association of Avian Trainers and Educators.
