Winter Sowing Native Seeds: Presentation and Make & Take

Beat the winter blues by starting your gardening in December with a fun, easy seed starting method known as Winter Sowing.

Master Gardener and Michigan Conservation Steward Jean Persely will show you how to start flowers, vegetables, and native plants from seed using free, recycled and inexpensive materials in a small outdoor space.

Join us at the Thumb Coast Watershed Center to hear Jean's presentation, and Kirsten Lyons, Parks Naturalist with St. Clair County Parks & Recreation Commission, will talk about upcoming habitat restoration projects in our county parks. Stay for a hands-on workshop to "Make & Take" your own mini native plant greenhouse. Native seeds and potting soil will be provided by Friends of the St. Clair River. Bring your own milk jug or other seed sowing container.

Registration for Make & Take is capped at 24 participants. This event is most suitable to ages 18 and over.
