Remarkable Men of the 1800s: York and Archer Alexander

Two remarkable men of the early 1800s highlight an evening at the Lewis & Clark Boat House and Museum.

York, the enslaved man who was integral to the Lewis & Clark Expedition, is at the heart of a modern-day river journey in the half-hour film "Big Medicine: York Outdoors."

Then St. Charles historian Dorris Keeven-Franke tells the story of Archer Alexander, an enslaved man who saved hundreds of lives by sneaking his way to Union troops and informing leaders of a plan to destroy an important bridge.
