About Ben Waters
With a career spanning decades, Ben Waters has built an international reputation for his powerhouse performances. He co-founded the acclaimed ABC&D of Boogie Woogie alongside Rolling Stones’ drummer Charlie Watts, bassist Dave Green and fellow pianist Axel Zwingenberger. His 2011 album Boogie 4 Stu – A Tribute to Ian Stewart featured collaborations with legends like Jools Holland, PJ Harvey, Bill Wyman, Ron Wood, Keith Richards, and Mick Jagger, making it a landmark celebration of boogie‑woogie heritage. About the MMI!
The Miners & Mechanics’ Institute, gifted to St Agnes in 1893 by philanthropist John Passmore Edwards, is one of only four such institutes in Cornwall, originally designed to offer education, lectures and libraries to working‑class communities.
Now a vibrant community hub and charity, MMI hosts everything from film nights, workshops and craft markets to music events and café gatherings in the heart of St Agnes village. With a capacity that creates a warm, acoustic‑rich setting and a bar open during concerts, it's a friendly, informal space ideal for live music lovers!
