Missouri Folk Arts is excited to welcome Barry Bergey, Missouri's first State Folklorist, back to the Show Me State to talk about early days of the Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program.
Join us at one of the most fun and cozy folk venues in the state--the Shoe Tree Listening Room in Springfield, Mo. at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2025. Bergey, who hails from New Haven, Mo., will give a presentation titled "Show Me Missouri Apprenticeships."
After co-founding and -coordinating events and fieldwork with the non-profit Missouri Friends of the Folk Arts, Bergey joined the Cultural Heritage Center team at the University of Missouri. He then headed to the National Endowment for the Arts, where he worked in the Folk & Traditional Arts office for 29 years until he retired.
