A powerful artistic tribute to America’s most iconic highway
In honor of the 100th anniversary of Route 66, husband and wife artists Randy Bacon and Heidi Herrman present Two Voices, One Road, a deeply personal and visually compelling exhibition exploring the enduring spirit, memory, and mythology of America’s most legendary highway.
Opening April 29, 2026, during Springfield’s official Route 66 Centennial Celebration, the exhibition will be held at C-Art Gallery in Springfield’s historic Commercial Street district, located along the original Route 66 corridor.
As partners in both life and artistic practice, Bacon and Herrman bring distinct yet deeply connected perspectives to the same historic subject. This landmark exhibition creates a visual dialogue between two artistic voices—one expressed through Bacon’s black-and-white photographic portraiture of place, the other through Herrman’s encaustic and textile-based mixed media works that transform photographic imagery into layered, tactile objects of memory and presence.
Together, their work reflects not only a shared reverence for Route 66, but a shared commitment to storytelling, material, and the emotional resonance of the American landscape.
