October Art Walk: What Was The Hell House?

For our October Art Walk, Bookmarx owner Joshua Arnett is going to be looking at the History of the Hell House, the (mostly) short-lived Evangelical phenomenon of churches making haunted houses to scare youth straight (into heaven). What was the hell house? Why did it begin and where, if anywhere, can you still find one this October?
