Cycle Connect 417 will host our "Connect Ride" every first Saturday of the month, April - November! All women (sorry, dudes**) are welcome to join us for a casual and fun bike ride on Greenways and bike-friendly roadways.
This month, we will start and end our ride at The Rock/(former) Great Escape Brewery Area on Lone Pine Avenue in Springfield, MO. We will meet in the parking area behind the former Great Escape Brewery. After the ride is over, there will be an optional social time at The Rock. Join for the ride, social time, or both!
We will have two groups, based on speed and route length: A and B. These will still be No-Drop rides within your groups, which means no one is left behind by themselves! And we mean that - no one has ever been left alone on any of our no-drop rides. Ever.
Hang out afterwards with a tasty beverage, delicious food, and connect with the women in your cycling community at The Rock!
Helmets are required! Bike lights are encouraged for safety, but are not mandatory. Please do not feel like you need to have experience riding to have fun with us! Every month, we have many women attend who are on their FIRST group ride....ALL WOMEN AND ALL BIKES are welcome.
**HEY FELLAS!! We don't mean to leave you out, but we also kinda do. We hear from many ladies that they would just rather ride with other women sometimes (especially the beginners). Have a female friend or significant other who will ride with us? We encourage our male supporters to show up, organize their own ride(s), and hang out with us afterwards to share a beverage! The more, the merrier.
There will be two groups in August:
GROUP A:
Distance of about 5-7ish miles
Expect the entire round-trip ride to take about an hour, with many stops. There will be a designated ride leader and sweep. This group is recommended for beginner cyclists with little experience or those looking for a very social ride. You do not have to be "in shape"! We only add this because we get asked what level of fitness is required for our shorter route. This route is all on the Galloway Creek Greenway Trail. We usually turn around, after fun group photos, on the Old Iron Bridge over Lake Springfield/James River.
GROUP B:
Distance of about 12-15ish miles
Expect the entire route to take about an hour, with plenty of stops along the way to keep the group together. This group is recommended if you are comfortable with a 12-15 mph pace. This ride will be on both low-volume roads and on the paved greenway trails. There will be a designated ride leader and sweep.
This month's ride leaders & sweepers will be: Julie, Paige, Libby, Diana, and Mary!
