Fellow Philadelphia Chapter Explorers and Friends,
The 2025Annual Meeting of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Explorers Club will be held on Thursday 16 October at the Old York Road Country Club at 801 Tennis Avenue in Ambler, Pennsylvania.
Members, prospective members and guests are invited to attend. Business casual or explorer dress is encouraged, and please be mindful of the club’s dress code.
The agenda for the Annual Meeting will include an update on our chapter’s membership statistics, an overview of recent and upcoming chapter activities, and an opportunity for members to provide updates on current expeditions. After the conclusion of the official proceedings, our own Art Trembanis FN’22 will deliver this year's keynote address.
Kenchreai Project
Dr. Art Trembanis FN’22 will present an overview of the exploration work of his group, highlighting their use of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) in ocean science. He will give a special focus to the upcoming Kenchreai project in Greece, where the team will map and survey the submerged portion of a late Roman, early Byzantine port city on the east coast of the Isthmus of Corinth. Dr. Trembanis will also showcase the group’s newest ROV system, which was recently donated to his group. As part of the presentation, attendees will learn about opportunities for field participation and sponsorship to help advance this exciting expedition, for which Dr. Trembanis is applying to carry the Explorers Club flag.
