Masterworks 2: Landscapes

Debussy’s Prélude à “L’après-midi d’un faune” opens with ethereal melodies, while the sound world of the Nordic landscape comes alive in Rautavaara’s Cantus arcticus, as recorded birdsong weaves through the composition. Grieg’s Peer Gynt features “Morning Mood” and the hair-raising “In the Hall of the Mountain King”— both pop-culture staples you’ll recognize instantly.
