Auditions- War of the Worlds: The Panic Broadcast

War of the Worlds : The Panic Broadcast will be a part of our readers theatre series performed as a an old time radio broadcast! Performances will be during the last week of October with rehearsals 2-3 times per week depending upon cast members schedules. This show allows for flexible casting with a minimum of 1 female and 5 males up to 9 females and 30 males. This is a radio-play-within-a-play which tells the story of the infamous 1938 Mercury Theatre on the Air radio drama adapted by Orson Wells from the HG Wells classic sci-fi novel The War of the Worlds. This production includes the original Mercury Theatre script within the story how the original broadcast came to be and the fallout from the widespread panic that ensued. As it is a “radio play” enactment, roles may be played by teenage actors up to octogenarian actors! All are invited to audition! This production will be directed by Jena Schneller. Monday nights auditions will actually take place in the Atrium of the Alleghany BDC, but people can enter through the library. Tuesday night will be in the library itself.
