Sparrow's Point Farmacy Field Day

Sparrow’s Point Farmacy Urban Farm is facing a critical challenge with field bindweed, which threatens the health of the entire farm. The infestation began after compost from an unknown source was applied in the perennial garden and has since spread into the annual garden, climbing young Elberta peach trees, and encroaching across the yard.

The Field Day will be a collective, hands-on effort to:

● Cut, pull, and remove as much bindweed as possible.

● Dig up and pot select perennials to preserve them.

● Cover the affected area with silage tarp for long-term remediation.

● Clear and sanitize the old hoop house to make it W**d-free.

● Create a dedicated space inside the hoop house for holding potted plants until next year.

This work is essential to protect the farm’s perennial and annual crops, strengthen soil health, and restore productive growing spaces.
