Chebacco Author Talk: Food Insecurity and the Charitable Food System on MDI

Join Tom Reeve, Executive Director of the Bar Harbor Food Pantry, as he broadly explores the origins of the charitable food system nationally and in more detail locally. His presentation will include how each local organization helps out community members suffering from food insecurity, why the need for food pantries continues to grow, and his philosophy on what makes a community. His talk will be based on his 2025 Chebacco journal article.

Tom Reeve has been the Executive Director of the Bar Harbor Food Pantry since February 2022. Prior to holding this position, he was a sourdough bread baker, fundraiser, director of small nonprofits, and an ecologist. At the time of writing this, he lives in Trenton but might have moved due to the yearly MDI housing shuffle.
