Audubon Center Bent of the River
185 East Flat Hill Road, Southbury, United States
When hiking in a forest habitat in the summer, you have probably heard the beautiful flute-like song of a male Wood Thrush. These incredible birds arrive in our area in the spring to nest and raise their young. When fall comes around, they embark on an epic migration journey back to their wintering grounds in Central America.
Join Bent of the River Audubon and the Housatonic Valley Association on a guided Nature Hike at Bent of the River Audubon Center in Southbury, CT, where we will explore some of the habitats that our birds and other wildlife depend on. We will have binoculars for folks to borrow for the hike. After our hike, we will settle in the Center’s historic barn for a presentation about one of the tracking methods scientists are using to learn more about migratory birds like the Wood Thrush.
We will meet in the visitor parking lot of Bent of the River Audubon Center at 9:30 am. The hike will last an hour, followed by a half-hour presentation. Please wear comfortable footwear, bring water, and dress for the weather.
Please note that if you are using GPS to find the Center, please type in the address: 185 East Flat Hill Road, Southbury, CT, 06488. GPS will take you to the wrong location if you input the name instead of the address.
