The Papua New Guinea Association of Australia (PNGAA) is absolutely delighted that visual artist and storyteller, Grim Jordan, designer of PNG's new NGK50 commemorative note, will be the guest speaker at PNGAA's Brisbane celebration lunch on 9 August 2025.
Golden Jubilee celebrations of 50th year of Independence will include the usual camaraderie, and you will certainly want to hear how Grim Jordan's name came about! Opportunities to mingle with friends old and new will be an occasion not to miss!
Grim Jordan's goal was to present the story of PNG within a single design — one that could represent all of the nation's tribes and its 800+ languages. No pressure at all!
The Bank of Papua New Guinea had approached Jordan to create a unique piece of art to mark this 50th anniversary.
With his art now immortalised alongside the portrait of Papua New Guinea's grand chief, Sir Michael Somare, and the historic signature of its first female Governor of BPNG, Elizabeth Genia, Grim Jordan has most definitely made his mark.
So, come along, bring family/friends, and enjoy a wonderful day!
