Painting Workshop with David Hinchliffe – Manyung Gallery Sorrento

Fresh from workshops in Provence and Paris, David Hinchliffe brings his inspiring teaching style to the stunning coastal setting of Sorrento, Victoria. Over five creative days, you’ll enjoy daily painting sessions with hands-on demonstrations, personalised feedback, and techniques to unlock your creativity.

David believes wholeheartedly that “anyone can paint”, and his workshops are designed to make painting accessible, rewarding, and joyful for artists at every level.

The experience begins with a warm welcome at Manyung Gallery Sorrento — including a painting demonstration, orientation, and charcuterie with drinks. Over the following days, participants will paint in inspiring outdoor locations around Sorrento (or indoors if weather requires), guided step by step by David. By the end of the week you’ll have completed three framed canvas to take home.

All art materials — paints, brushes, canvases, and easels — are included. Accommodation can be arranged independently, or as part of our Airbnb packages with private bedrooms and bathrooms, giving you a comfortable base in beautiful Sorrento. Meals are not included (except for the welcome refreshments), but kitchens are available and we’ll provide a list of local dining options.

The workshop concludes with a special mini-exhibition at Manyung Gallery Sorrento, where participants will hang their finished works alongside David’s own pieces — a rare chance to gain insight into the workings of a professional gallery.

• Arrive in Sorrento & check in
• Welcome painting demonstration & orientation with David at Manyung Gallery over charcuterie & drinks

Wednesday–Friday, October 22–24

• Daily painting sessions guided by David
• Outdoor painting along beaches, jetties, streets, and parks (weather permitting)
• Indoor painting from reference photographs if weather prevents outdoor sessions
• Daily demonstration painting by David
• Individual guidance & feedback
• Each participant completes a framed canvas daily

Saturday, October 25

• Morning check-out
• Transport paintings to Manyung Gallery Sorrento
• Hang works for the mini-exhibition with David’s own art
• Closing reflections and gallery insight

By the end, you’ll have at least three framed paintings to take home and the unique experience of exhibiting them in a professional gallery.

Accommodation is in comfortable Airbnb residences in Sorrento, each with kitchen, lounge, dining area, backyard, and private bedroom/bathroom. Participants share common areas but have their own private space.
