Riscopriamo Massaquano uno dei casali più antichi di Vico Equense arroccato alle pendici del monte Faito che mantiene ancora oggi quasi inalterata una struttura viaria medievale con stradine che collegano i due quartieri storici: Santa Lucia e Santa Caterina. La piccola piazza stretta e lunga è caratterizzata da un lato dalla Cappella di Santa Lucia che al suo interno conserva un ciclo di affreschi trecenteschi di scuola giottesca esempio unico in Penisola Sorrentina e dall'altro dalla facciata e dalla ripida scalinata della Chiesa parrocchiale di San Giovanni Battista affiancata dalla famosa Congrega di S. Maria a Chieia. Questo itinerario si conclude al Belvedere di Trina del Monte nel borgo di S. Salvatore al di sopra del sentiero della Sperlonga/via Minervia.

 Walking tours around picturesque hilltop villages

Let’s discover Massaquano the most ancient hamlet on the hills of Vico Equense walking through its medieval narrow streets that connect two of its older neighborhoods: Santa Lucia and Santa Caterina. We will visit the little narrow square that keeps on one side the Chapel of St. Lucia where we can admire the marvellous frescoes attributed to Giotto school a unique example in our land while the façade and the steep staircase of the Parish Church of St. John the Baptist is standing in front of us. The itinerary will end with spectacular view of the Bay of Naples from Belvedere of Trina del Monte in the village of S. Salvatore above the Sperlonga path.
