Synopsis (proposed):
Digital in a powerful tool. Rapid adoption of digital workflow in dentistry has been a
subject of debate and even worry. The notion that analog techniques that have been
used for decades to create aesthetic restorations, may soon become irrelevant has
been a cause of fear for some. Dentists and dental technicians struggle to choose one
technique over the other, due to the existing bias that digital and analog stand at
opposite ends of the spectrum.
During this presentation, we will address these concerns and elucidate why we may
not need to pick sides after all, when it comes to digital and analog. One can truly
complement the other. Digital and analog techniques can be used in combination to
create aesthetic, functional and life-like restorations.
We will discuss real life cases that optimally combine both digital and analog in the
restoration process. In the end, the goal is to use the best of both (digital and analog)
worlds to save time, ensure predictability and maximize the results of our daily work.
Learning Objectives:
• Discuss the advantages, limitations, and combination of CAD/CAM systems and
digital workflows versus the time-tested handcrafted techniques
• Examine real-world applications and case studies, to demonstrate how dental
professionals can leverage both methods to optimize patient outcomes, streamline
production, and maintain the artistry that remains essential in dental craftsmanship
