Amalia — whose parents were devoted Havniks in the '80s — is a violinist, singer-songwriter, and community builder from New Mexico. She recently completed a transformative year in Jerusalem as a Dorot Fellow and is now an Arts and Culture Fellow at the Pardes Institute and Nava Tehila Levite.
Julia is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, and rabbinical and cantorial student at Hebrew College. She recently concluded a year of study at Pardes and Nava Tehila’s Levite internship in Jerusalem, and is now based back in the greater Boston area.
Over the course of their year together in Jerusalem, Amalia and Julia immersed themselves in Torah study, justice work, and the deep spiritual connection of their ancestral heritage, transmitting their sacred experiences into melody and song.
Rooted in the rich traditions of Israeli devotional melodies, American folk, and Hasidic nigunim, the music of Julia and Amalia weaves a timeless tapestry of sound — an offering of healing, friendship, and a deep yearning for connection with the Divine.
Now, Amalia and Julia are excited to share the music born in Jerusalem with their home communities. Bring your voice and an open heart as we bring this music to life at the Hav!
