What is "Antipode"?

“Antipode” is a new project documenting underground punk and DIY culture from North Africa, Southwest Asia, and their diasporas. Curated by Turkish-based artist Doğa Sultan, the project takes shape as a documentary-style zine/book accompanied by a compilation tape, released in collaboration with A World Divided Tapes.
The first issue gathers contributions from bands, labels, collectives, and artists who speak in their own voices, without mediation. The idea is not to confine these scenes into narrow categories, but to create space for people from the region to define their own cultural work. Traces of future issues are already visible through the involvement of diasporic communities and connected geographies.
Entirely self-organized and independent, “Antipode” will be introduced with a European tour in October 2025. Nine of the bands featured in the first issue and compilation will take part, while also connecting with local DIY communities in each city. Copies of the zine/book and tape will be available throughout the tour.
