🦇 A word from our featured artist:
Duella (she/they) is a gothic popstar from Venus sent here to infiltrate the sound waves and beyond. I started presenting Duella to the public in 2017 and through her strength and power came into my womanhood. She was always a means to create dynamic musical performances to fill the gaps that Band, Theatre, and pop music fandom left in my heart for the first 20 years of my life. Duella is fiery, funny and furious at the state of the world at large, with that being said my personal mission is to look spooky and sexy and be the kindest person you've ever met.
My music comes from a deeply personal place as it is my way to express and process trauma and life through a means that isn't binge drinking and bed rotting (my favorite past time). I'm very proud of my EP The Witching Hour, it is my first forray into publicly releasing my music for mass consumption and it's terrifying but so liberating.
I've been a live performer since I was 7 so performance is no different to me than a simple handshake. My primary inspirations are the 80s, Slasher films and their film scores, Madonna and all the shock rockers. You'll notice an undying adoration of Lady Gaga if you take a glance over my feed but mostly my biggest inspiration is ME 🤣 well and my mother, she has always gotten me even before I got me.
What excites me the most about performing at the QOM is hearing all of the other performers, the last time I came out was in June for the pride Open Mic and I just cried in the audience. It was such a beautiful experience so when you called me up to take on spooky szn I just HAD to take the opportunity. My socials are all the same as here "theduella666" and I tend to frequent the Capitol Hill area in Seattle, but I live over in North Bend. So this spot being right down the street from my cave is just DREAMY!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for hosting queer art in rural spaces, in these trying times we most definitely need spaces like this.
