Brendan Jackson is a photographer and writer, curator of the Jubilee Arts Archive, author of ‘Keepers of the Light’, ‘The Wonders of Warsaw’, ‘Made in Oldbury’ and ‘The Little Polish Book of Tbilisi’. His new publication accompanies the current photographic exhibition ‘Sites of Memory’ at Haden Hill House Museum. ‘Black Country Black Sea’ explores the journeys of young soldiers from the Black Country and Birmingham who served in the Caucasus in 1918-1920. Inspired by archive materials found in the UK and Georgia, the stories merge historical narrative with fictive speculation to explore a less known chapter of a shared past.
