Reader's Theater Performance: A Christmas Carol

Christ Episcopal Church in Slidell will present the timeless story of Ebeneezer Scrooge and his transformation after ghostly visitations in a reader’s theater production of the classic Charles Dickens’ story on Saturday Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. and Sunday Dec. 7 at noon at the church, 1534 Seventh Street, Slidell.

A cast of church members will embody Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim and the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come along with all the other familiar characters. The production is appropriate for all ages. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 12-17 and is free to children under 12. Christ Episcopal choir members will perform English carols and refreshments will be available for a donation during intermission.

Karen Shields and Sara Pagones are directing the production, using a script that Shield’s uncle, Lester Hale, adapted from the novel as a way for families to enjoy the story as a live reading on
Christmas. Shields’ vision was for the family of Christ Episcopal to share that concept with the Slidell community.
