What will I learn?
Learn the basics of glass fusing ; design, cut, layer and assemble coloured glass to create your own mini masterpieces. Hanging loops will finish the process, creating beautiful fused glass artworks ready for firing. This will either be a decorative piece, light catcher or hanging decoration.
What will I take away with me?
Your fused glass artwork can be collected following firing. They will be ready a week or two after the workshop.
Schedule of the day
Participants will be introduced to the materials and basic process of glass fusing.
Initial design ideas will be sketched out on paper.
Group discussion will help refine and finalise individual designs.
A glass cutting demonstration will be given.
Everyone will have the opportunity to try cutting sheet glass themselves.
Once glass pieces are selected, designs will be transferred onto the glass using glue and accessory glass.
Each participant will cut a piece of kiln paper to fit their design.
Completed glass pieces will be transferred to the kiln, ready for firing.
Those making a light catcher or hanging decoration will also create a hanging loop using nichrome wire to embed in the glass.
