RRG Hike & Backpack Fish!

Location: Meet at Junior Williamson Rest Area Exit 33 by 10:30am

The Kentucky BHA Chapter annually assists the Kentucky Fish & Wildlife Department with a trout stocking in Red River Gorge. This is always a highly anticipated event that brings folks from far and wide as we stock trout in Chimney Top Creek, a beautiful little tributary to the Red River, which in turn provides exciting angling opportunities on our beloved public lands!

So, join pack up your family (excellent learning opportunity for kiddos) and join us on October 9th as we once again assist the fine field staff of KY Fish & Wildlife and stock a few hundred trout (500 in 2024)! We will meet at the Junior Williamson Rest Area at Exit 33 on the Mountain Parkway at 10:30 a.m. From there, we will caravan to the stocking location at 11:15am.

Please be prepared for a good steep hike and bring plenty of water and any personal medical supplies you might need (i.e. EpiPen, personal medications). We will be using backpacks to carry the trout, so if you are able, please bring a backpack as well.

Afterwards, we will head on over to a great little local restaurant called Hops to celebrate another successful stocking event!
