Grounded, sculptural, and a little earthy—this two-part clay workshop will guide you through the satisfying process of hand-building vessels, no kiln required. Perfect for beginners, you’ll learn simple techniques to shape and finish one-of-a-kind pinch and coil pots.
Each week builds on the last:
Week 1: Pinch & Coil Pot Fundamentals (Sept 9)
Warm up with a pinch pot to feel clay’s natural tension
Build a small bowl or vase using the pinch technique
Add height or variation with coils
Explore textures through carving or natural impressions
Take home 1–2 pieces to dry and finish in Week 2
Week 2: Surface Decoration & Finishing (Sept 16)
Light sanding and sealing techniques
Paint with acrylics or soft washes
Add personality with dotting tools, pens, or metallic accents
Take home your finished, sealed clay vessels
