Backwards Drops, Dives and Rolls - Aerial Silks Workshop by Katie Critzer

Flip, dive, and roll back in style—master dynamic backwards drops in this advanced aerial workshop.

Let’s take it back now y’all! Master the art of dropping and flipping backwards. In this workshop, you will explore a variety of backwards drops, dives and rolls. We’ll explore a variety of backdives, including dynamic entries. Open backwards drops and dynamics rolls like one and both leg monkey rolls, and elbow rolls.

You should have a strong aerial inversion and the ability to perform drops at least 18 feet in the air. Students should be able to do a pull up from straight arms. This workshop is tailored to high intermediate/advanced aerialists.

Katie Critzer (Katie in the Sky) is one of the owners and the head aerial silks coach at South Dakota Aerial & Arts. She has been performing professionally across the Midwest for four years and practicing aerial for just over eight. Prior to starting aerial arts, she had a decade of gymnastics and tumbling experience. She is known for her tornado spin technique and has wowed many audiences with her fast corkscrew spins. Her spin tutorials and unique transitions have gone viral online. She loves helping aerialists better understand aerial theory, grow confidence in themselves, and conquer their fears. Katie has taken on many awards including 1st place at Aerialympics and the Black Hills Aerial Cup for her all star/advanced performances. She also has won "Best Variety Act" for her duo aerial silks performances, Best New Business by 605 magazine and was named one of Sioux Falls 30 Under 30.
