The Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa invite you to a day of discovery, reflection, and celebration at their open house extravaganza Sunday, Aug. 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Sinsinawa Mound. This special event offers an opportunity to enjoy the debut of a captivating new heritage exhibit—A Journey of Faith and Service: Father Samuel Mazzuchelli, OP, and the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa. Step into the story of a bold mission that spans nearly 200 years.
Guests can also explore the stunning updates to the historic Mound buildings, including the beautifully refurbished St. Clara Chapel, newly renovated office spaces, and a state-of-the-art conference center designed to welcome groups for meetings, retreats, and social gatherings. Attendees will enter the building through the new main entrance of Stone Building, originally designed and built by Father Mazzuchelli in 1846.
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., enjoy delicious offerings from local food and coffee trucks; meet local farmers from the Sinsinawa Collaborative Farm selling produce; and learn about environmentally friendly, sustainable soil practices from Fields of Sinsinawa representatives. Stroll the peaceful grounds, walk the outdoor labyrinth, and soak in the beauty and serenity of the Mound’s natural surroundings. “We are thrilled to open our doors once again to our Motherhouse at Sinsinawa,” said Prioress Sister Christina Heltsley, OP. “This is a place of prayer, reflection, and joy, where all are welcome to experience the sacred and simple gifts of creation.”
Come for the beauty. Stay for the peace. Leave inspired.
