About the Seminar
This seminar will assess the performance of President Prabowo Subianto’s government, as its first anniversary in power approaches. It will examine how the government has implemented its key policies and address governance challenges, and will consider the obstacles limiting progress.
How have the Indonesian elite and masses reacted to the president and his recently reshuffled Cabinet? What role do forces outside the ruling coalition play, from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) to elements of civil society? What explains this year of ‘national depression’, as movements like Indonesia Gelap (Dark Indonesia), Kabur Aja Dulu (Escape First), Naikkan Bendera One Piece (Raise the One Piece flag) and the recent protests have emerged?
