About the event

From Archives to Audiences: Tradition & Modernity in Cinema
What can the only surviving reel of a 1927 silent film teach us about the fragility of cinema?

For its 20th anniversary, Asian Film Archive teams up with Perspectives Film Festival to explore Tradition & Modernity

Catch the rare 23-min segment of Hou Yao’s A Poet from the Sea (1927), followed by talks with AFA’s Natalie Khoo & Chew Tee Pao on preservation, archiving, and restoration. Plus, a special programming talk with PFF’s programmers and co-festival advisor Eternality Tan!
