Art Outreach presents a series of guided tours to introduce the public to the Art in Transit (AIT) programme, Singapore’s largest public art showcase.
Under the AIT programme, local artists are commissioned to create original artworks for MRT stations. This provides an opportunity for the artists to celebrate the history and community of surrounding neighbourhoods, and introducing everyday commuters to new vistas of artistic expression.
Join us for these exclusive tours on 9 and 13 September, covering 7 key stations - Dhoby Ghaut, Clarke Quay, Outram Park, Orchard Boulevard, Stevens, Rochor and Promenade, and the ambitious, site-specific artworks commissioned for them.
Aside from delving into the artist inspirations behind the artworks at each station, the tours will highlight architectural and engineering anecdotes, and reveal Singapore’s urban planning at its best. In doing so, they grant unparalleled insight into the stories and creative process behind one of Singapore’s most ambitious public art programmes and the individuals who made it possible.
Refresh Your Journey - walk, cycle, or hop on public transport to explore Art-In-Transit artworks! Let’s choose active commutes for a greener and healthier lifestyle this World Car-Free Day!
Meeting Point: Plaza Singapura, Level 1 Entrance near Starbucks
Participants would be expected to take the train and tap in/out of stations to view the artworks, so please come prepared with EZ-Link cards or other means with at least $10 value to pay for the fares.
