Annual MLK Memorial

The 23rd MLK Silverton Observance, Mon., Jan. 19, at the Silverton Grange will welcome PCUN Exec. Dir./President Reyna Lopez as Keynote Speaker. PCUN (Pineros Campesinos Unidos del Noroeste) is Oregon's largest farm workers' union and is based in Woodburn. Because the town is over 60% Latinx, it has become a hot spot of ICE's brutal tactics. ICE's invasion of the community is causing all kinds of disruption to the locals and local businesses. Reyna & PCUN have been at the forefront in defense of the community. There will be more details as publicity develops.

As in the past, this year's event will feature a community potluck starting at 6pm (doors open at 5:30pm for socializing), along with sing-a-longs and readings relevant to the social justice mission of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. And, once again KBOO Community Radio is a sponsor of the event.
