Early jazz had strong roots in the Washington area. There was Ellington of course in D.C. - but don’t forget about Eubie Blake Chick Webb and Cab Calloway right up the road in Baltimore. 
When the Peabody Promenaders perform be prepared for a blend of popular traditional melodies and some brand-new early-days’ style traditional jazz music The band features students of America’s oldest music academy Baltimore’s Peabody Conservatory. The audience can expect to hear a lineup that includes both known and forgotten jazz from turn-of-the-last-century Baltimore composers. A pre-Thanksgiving musical treat.

 The Potomac River Jazz Club has been bringing traditional jazz of the 1920 -1930’s to the Washington DC area for the past 50+ years.
