Body Based Practices for Humans & Dogs
In the Company of Dogs & Waves of Curiosity presents a free educational talk on nervous-system co-regulation and how calm is built together.
Fear, anxiety, reactivity, and low confidence aren’t training failures.
They are nervous-system states: fight, flight, freeze.
Most training focuses on what a dog should do.
This talk explores what allows dogs and humans to feel settled, supported, and present enough to learn.
When regulation comes first, learning changes.
We’ll explore:
What co-regulation actually is between humans and dogs
Why regulation is a prerequisite for learning, not a reward
How the human nervous system shapes outcomes
How confidence grows without pressure or force
Training works best when calm is the starting point, not the goal.
For both ends of the leash.
