Red River Readers Book Club at the Cedar Grove-Line Avenue Branch

Red River Readers Book Club reads and discusses a variety of fiction and nonfiction selections. To celebrate Native American Heritage Month, we will discuss Becoming Little Shell by Chris La Tray. The author explores his hidden Indigenous roots after years of family denial. Prompted by a funeral and memories of his grandmother’s stories, he uncovers his Chippewa heritage through research and conversations. His journey leads to embracing his identity and joining the Little Shell Tribe’s long fight for recognition. The book blends memoir and history, highlighting identity, legacy, and the lasting impact of colonialism.
