How To Make A Book Dummy: An Illustration Workshop

For those interested in pursuing traditional publishing, author/illustrator Kirk Reedstrom will walk participants through the methods he uses to construct a book dummy: a roughly sketched book draft that illustrators submit to agents and publishers for publishing consideration. Using well-known fairytales or their own stories as base texts, participants will draft their own book dummies, and learn tools to begin querying their own projects to potential agents.

Participants should bring sketchbooks, pencils, and are welcome to use a story they've been working on during the workshop.

About Kirk Reedstrom:
USA Today-bestselling author Kirk Reedstrom has spent most of his adult life surrounded by books—he currently works for a public library system, and he used to be a bookseller at Blue Willow Bookshop, an independent bookstore in Houston, TX. He has led children’s art workshops at The Kimball Museum and interned with William Joyce at the Moonbot Studios.
