Step Into the Past: Gary Eby’s Historical Walk Through Bloomfield Cemetery: A Featured Experience During the New Bloomfield Street Fair!
To many, a cemetery is a place of quiet remembrance, a space visited in
times of loss. But cemeteries are also rich with stories, those of builders, dreamers, leaders, and everyday citizens who helped shape our communities.
Why Bloomfield Cemetery?
Bloomfield is the only county seat in Pennsylvania founded before a borough, town, or city was established. The people buried here weren’t just residents, they were pioneers of politics, industry, and local
legacy.
As part of the New Bloomfield Street Fair, join local historian and Historical Society Board Director Gary Eby for a 90-minute guided walk through the peaceful grounds of Bloomfield Cemetery. Hear the captivating stories of men and women who
lived and died during America’s Gilded Age (1875–1910)—a time of great invention, railroads, and vast inequality between wealth and struggle.
Discover the hidden history of Perry County’s earliest movers and shakers and walk away seeing cemeteries in a whole new light.
