The Penguin Lessons is a charming, feel-good story about compassion, resilience, and the surprising ways we find connection. With a standout performance by Steve Coogan and a lovable penguin at its heart, this film is perfect for audiences of all ages.
Set in 1970s Argentina, this heart warming and humorous film follows disillusioned English teacher Tom Michell, who takes a job at a prestigious boys' school during a time of political unrest. Expecting a quiet life, Tom’s world is turned upside down when he rescues a penguin from an oil-slicked beach in Uruguay.
Naming the penguin Juan Salvador, Tom smuggles him back to the school, where the bird becomes an unlikely classroom assistant and emotional anchor. As the penguin wins over students and staff alike, Tom finds renewed purpose, unexpected friendships, and the courage to confront both personal grief and political injustice.
